Prince Kim Gyo-gak of Silla crossed the sea to China and asked the mountain’s owner, Min Gong, for 'a single kasaya’s worth of land'.
He spread the kasaya into the air — a blaze of golden light covering all ninety-nine peaks。
He practised austerities here for seventy-five years, passed at ninety-nine with his body uncorrupted, and was honoured as Jin Dizang.
A thousand years later, a ninety-nine-metre bronze statue of Dizang rose before the mountain, signifying 'ninety-nine returning to one'.
And so we wrote these ninety-nine reasons —
Ninety-nine peaks; one mountain giving you ninety-nine reasons to look back;
and all of them converge on a single word: Go。
The first ninety-eight were written by the mountain. The ninety-ninth is left for you.
